Jim Ross comments on his return to a live broadcast team, ROH and New Japan Global Wars, and the upcoming War of the Worlds iPPV

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights. To order J.R.'s BBQ products, visit WWEShop.com. -Ross on calling boxing for Fox Sports 1: "Very grateful to Fox Sports and Golden Boy Promotions for extending me the opportunity to jump back on some play by play for their Memorial Day night boxing from Ft. Bliss, Texas that will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1. My old pal Mauro Ranallo will 'coach me up' and I will be ready to rock the Monday night away."

Powell's POV: I was hoping the boxing event was a Monday afternoon since it takes place on a holiday, but it looks like the show will air opposite Raw. Hey, remind me to set my DVR that night. Thanks.
-Ross on ROH and New Japan Global Wars: "Really enjoyed what I saw of the ROH-New Japan event Saturday night in Toronto. I had another meeting to attend so I only got to see a little over half the event but it was fun to see so many wrestlers who truly love the business and who bust their ass for their fans. No group from top to bottom that I've  seen in a good while works harder than the talents that I saw work Saturday night. I love the Briscoe Brothers and know they would have kicked ass in the Attitude Era. Two, naturally colorful characters and a helluva tag team. Got to meet Kevin Steen, who I like a great deal, and AJ Styles who will be my guest on an up coming Ross Report Podcast this summer. All are outstanding talents and, without question, and how a major promotion couldn't utilize these men's skills, among others,  is a mystery to me."
Powell's POV: It was a fun show to watch on iPPV on Saturday night and I continue to recommend the replay. You can still find Zack Zimmerman's live review of the show as well as my blog from Sunday morning on the main page.
-Ross on ROH and NJPW's War of the Worlds: "The IPPV this Saturday featuring War of the Worlds should be a fantastic show especially if one likes fast paced, in ring wrestling action and not too much talk or lame skits. I'd still like to see the pace of the ROH matches slow down a bit and the talent sell more but no one and I mean no one can fault the effort of the talents. One more thing ROH should invest in is better ring lighting."
Powell's POV: Ross nailed it on the less is more advice to ROH performers. Amen on the lighting! Come on, Sinclair, you're a freaking television company. Buy some damn lights and look professional. Despite the criticisms, I am really looking forward to Saturday night's iPPV event and believe it should be even better than Global Wars.
Other topics include his one man show in Toronto, more on Global Wars, the Ross Report podcast, the MC of his upcoming one-man show in Chicago, and more.
