WWE Never Say Never: The Miz Can Be World Championship Material Again

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestlingInc), rumor has it that Ric Flair is on his way back to WWE as a full-time performer. Although subject to change, one rumor dictated that the Nature Boy could potentially work with Dolph Ziggler or the Miz, who will soon be returning to TV after another stint filming the forthcoming Marine 4. 

Per PWInsider (via WrestlingInc), who corroborated the Wrestling Observer Newsletter report, "word going around indeed is that Flair will be put with The Miz again. Flair must past all of WWE's necessary tests before he can be brought back."

The thought of another potential Miz-Flair relationship will induce groans from most wrestling fans. Their first go-around together saw Flair bequeath his patented Figure Four Leg Lock to Miz, only for the former WWE champion to botch the maneuver in ensuing matches.
Miz's odyssey has taken him from Reality TV outcast, to chip-on-his-shoulder main eventer to obscure midcarder. Somewhere between all of that he has been tabbed to star in multiple low-rent WWE films. Miz's WWE backstory clashes violently with Flair's unmatched championship wrestling pedigree. Given Miz's fall from grace since 2011, many see him as non-salvageable.

But no matter how irrelevant, every WWE star is one well-executed storyline from a revival.
Triple H's legacy dates back to an extended period when he was (intentionally) booked poorly as punishment for the infamous Curtain Call incident. Once he was paired with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels the two formed a charismatic duo, in Degeneration-X, that relaunched and redefined Triple H's career.
CM Punk was a middling leader of the Nexus long after the stable had lost its edge. One pipebomb later and he was a first-time WWE champion in a feud opposite Cena that cemented him as a top star.
Daniel Bryan was on his way to a forgettable (read: Sacrilegious) WrestleMania XXX feud opposite Sheamus until a fan-led revolution vaulted him to the main event. Even discarded diva Alicia Fox is on the roll of her career as a crazy-chick foil for current champion Paige.
Any given moment can see a superstar rise from his or her own ashes. WWE's catchphrase of "then, now...forever" also serves as a reminder. The three words work interchangeably. True to the slogan, a fading star (then) can easily make a splash into current storylines (now) and have a lasting impact (forever).
If there are indeed legs to the Flair return story, and Naitch is to become a full-time mentor of the Miz, the pairing could create a renaissance of sorts for Miz. Miz hasn't been close to a world-title program in years. Flair's involvement with current stars will run the risk of the former 16-time world champion casting a large shadow over his inferior proteges.
But if Flair is able to become a toned-down version of his boisterous persona, his silent seal of approval will make Miz matter.
