Ric Flair is set to return to WWE TV and he wants to be the manager
of Dolph Ziggler, a guy he personally sees as having top star potential,
according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Ahead of WWE’s return plans, Flair is this week attending an
appointment with Dr Joseph Maroon, a full cardiovascular physical, which
will ensure he is fit and able to come back. After what happened with
Jerry Lawler and Ultimate Warrior, WWE is taking no chances with its
older talent, everyone must meet the demands of a physical. The belief is that Flair can only come in as a babyface at this revered stage of his career, but given his love of the heel role you just never know. Despite his desire to work with Ziggler, WWE have different ideas. Dolph hasn’t been used as a top star in over a year and that doesn’t look set to change. Instead the company are thinking of pairing Flair back up with The Miz, a mentoring role which started a while back with the younger talent adopting Naitch’s figure four leg lock. The idea is that once Miz returns from shooting the Marine 4 he will be elevated to a top face role. Understandably, many are sceptical of this, Miz is naturally a heel and has the reputation of being damaged goods after his main event relegation in 2011. Another idea was Flair managing The Shield against Evolution but that seems unlikely with that feud due to end soon.
Flair has been hitting the gym and is down to 230 pounds, close to the kind of shape he wants to be in for his big television return.
